Design Flex stores the .kit file on the Flex platform as well as locally. This is to ensure you can access the .kit file if you have a loss of internet connection. Upon opening the file if you do not have internet connection there will be a pop-up advising you that you are using the local file.
As long as no one uses the file on the Flex platform the next time you are able to use the internet to open the design it will be updated by the local file.
When you first save the file while you are offline you will see a pop-up advising you that this will be saved locally and uploaded to the Flex platform once you open the file while connected to the internet.
When you open the file while connected to the internet and the Flex platform and the Flex file has been edited by another user during the time that you have been offline, there will be a pop-up advising you that there is a conflict of versions. There are 3 options:
- Open the Flex file and lose the work on the local file
- Open the local file and lose the work on the Flex file
- Cancel the task and save your local file under a different name
Selecting one of the first two options will mean overwriting work that someone has done. The window will advise you who made the change and at what time.
To ensure both versions are preserved follow the steps below:
- Select the option Cancel.
- Go back to Design Flex and select Save as.
- Give the file a name and save this locally.
- On the Flex platform navigate to the Project select it and open the sidebar.
- In the sidebar select the option + Add Design.
- Input a name and select + Import Design.
- Navigate to the saved file and select it to be saved to this Project as an iteration of the design.
