How to create or modify a rate

This area of the database controls the list, cost and sell pricing by catalog and allows you to produce accurate Cost/Sell reports.
If used correctly, these records will: hide the surcharges/discounts and display net prices for individual items; set mandatory discounts or surcharges directly from the database; create sets of parameters for pricing out designs for different types of customers, i.e. distributors, retailers, consumers and promotional.

Complete the following steps to create a rate:  

1. Open Design's Catalog Manager from your desktop icon
   
   
2. Click on the Charges Editor button
   
   
3. Click on the Rates tab
   
   
4. Use the drop-down arrow beside the catalog field and select the catalog you want to work with
   
   
5. Click the Add button to create a new rate or select the rate record you want to modify and click Edit
   
   
6. Click on the field next to Description and type the long name of the rate record
   Note: This field must not exceed 24 characters.
   
   
7. Click on the field next to User Code and type a short name of the rate record
   
   
8. Click on the field next to MENUCH and type 0 to prevent or 1 to allow designers to access the Discount/Surcharges section of the Catalog Charges tab in the Styles & Pricing dialog
   
   
9. Click on the field next to Price 2 and type 0.01
   
   
10. Click on the field next to Price 3 and type your sell multiplier for cabinets, fillers, add-ons, moldings and toe kicks. For example, type 42.50
    
    
11. Click on the field next to Price 4 and type your sell multiplier for accessories. For example type 42.50
    
    
12. Click on the field next to Price 5 and type your sell multiplier for appliances. Type 0 if you wish not to use this field
    
    
13. Click on the field next to Price 6 and type your sell multiplier for countertop items. Type 0 if you wish not to use this field
    
    
14. Click on the field next to Price 7 and type 0.01
    
    
15. Click on the field next to Price 8 and type your cost multiplier for cabinets, fillers, add-ons, moldings and toe kicks. For example, type 32.50
    
    
16. Click on the field next to Price 9 and type your cost multiplier for accessories. For example, type 32.50
    
    
17. Click on the field next to Price 10 and type your cost multiplier for appliances. Type 0 if you wish not to use this field
    
    
18. Click on the field next to Price 11 and type your cost multiplier for countertop items. Type 0 if you wish not to use this field
    
    
19. Click OK to confirm and return to the previous dialog
