How to update Nvidia graphics card drivers

If you don't know what type of graphics card you have, the NVIDIA graphics driver site can be found here.

From here there are three options on how to find and update your graphic card driver.

Option 1: Manually Select Your Driver

  1. Using the dropdowns provided select the appropriate card information and click SEARCH.

  2. Once the search is complete you will see GeForce Game Ready Driver. From here just click Download.

  3.  When the installation is complete, make sure the game client is closed out completely and restart your computer.

  4. Your drivers are now officially up to date.
     

Option 2: Automatically Detect and Install Your Driver

Update using NVIDIA GeForce Experience:

  1. In the bottom right of your task bar you can quickly access NVIDIA GeForce Experience if your system requires an update. If the icon is missing, you can manually search "GeForce."

  2. At the top of the GeForce Experience window find and select Drivers.

  3. Once open you will be able to see what drivers, if any, that you are missing. Select the green DOWNLOAD button to begin updating your drivers.

  4. You should now see the driver in the downloading process.

  5. Once this process is complete, you will have an option for Express or Custom.  Select Express to continue.

  6. This will open a Preparing to install window that will normally cycle through advertisements while loading.
    • While the new driver is installing, it is very common for the screen to turn black and re-appear. This may change the size of any windows you have open, but this is normal until installation is complete.

  7. Once complete, a success window will pop up.

  8. Close this window. At the top of your GeForce Experience (where the driver update alert was) there should now be a check mark next to it along with a message stating, "You have the latest GeForce Driver."

  9. When the installation is complete, make sure the game client is closed out completely and restart your computer.

  10. Your drivers are now officially up to date.
