Use the Rendering pane in the Preferences dialog box to perform the following tasks:
Select which render engine to use; Cycles, EZ Render and Redway.
Choose whether to use the CPU or GPU when rendering.
Choose which view modes must be available in the Information box and in the Attributes dialog box.
Set a default texture size for all images (Small, Medium, Large).
Assign default lighting effects and quality level for renderings.
To access the Rendering Performance module and the rendering engines available, in the FILE menu, select Preferences.
In the Preferences dialog box, select Rendering.
Select the render engine to use, there are 3 options: Cycles, EZ Render and Redway3d.
Select the render engine to use.

Under the drop down for Hardware Acceleration you will see 3 options:
Enabled - Uses the Graphics card whenever possible (Default)
Disabled - Never uses the Graphics card (uses CPU at all times)
Enabled for HQ only - Uses the CPU in Real time mode (camera movement) and the GPU for High Quality renders.
In the Item View Settings pane, under Default view mode header, select the Information check box for options that you want to keep or clear the check box for items that you want to remove from the default view.

In the Textures pane, select Small, Medium or Large from the Rendering list.
Small: 128x128 maximum texture resolution
Medium: 256x256 maximum texture resolution
Large: 1024x1024 maximum texture resolution

In the Lighting pane, move the slider bar to set the Artificial light level (light effects along walls).
In the Lighting pane, move the slider bar to set the Natural/Realistic light level (natural light coming in through windows and doors).
When you increase the light intensity, the room becomes uniformly brighter, but this tends to reduce photo-realism.
- To display any rendering in hidden lines when clicking the real-time icon. You can change this preference in the rendering. This saves rendering time. In the Rendering pane, select the Force hidden lines in real time mode check box.
