Global illumination can be used on average resolution graphics cards without requiring too much rendering time. It produces amazing results.
If you use the Redway renderings engine and you select the Global illumination option, remember the following important guidelines:
The EZ Render engine deactivates Global illumination.
- Global illumination is a technology that makes all indirect light sources participate in the final rendering output.
- For optimal results, this feature should be used only with closed rooms and a low to no ambient light.
- You achieve real light sources effect because Global illumination makes these sources bounce against all components, just as light sources (windows, glass doors) do in real life.
When turned off, Refresh rendering on idle allows users editing their designs in 3D to refresh without performing an entire re-render.
This allows manipulation of the objects in rendering without the time restricted by a full re-render (however necessary in showcasing situations).
Therefore, it speeds up editing time in rendering considerably.
When the Refresh rendering on idle is checked off, there is:
- limited lighting adjustments made
- minimum shadow calculation
- no change of the view angle
