In the ROOM LAYOUT ribbon, click Openings and Obstacles

In the Openings & Obstacles dialog box, double-click Obstacles or Reserved.

Select the obstacle to place and click Place.

Base Obstacle blocks the lower portion of a wall

Tall Obstacle blocks the lower and top portion of a wall
-
Wall Upper Obstacle blocks the top portion of the wall

Wall Obstacle has the same height and texture as the wall

Click the placement zone of the wall/construction line requiring the obstacle. Because obstacles have no predefined width, a small outline appears to indicate the starting point of the obstacle.

Use the Placement box as a guide and click to set the starting point.

If you no longer want to place this obstacle, press the ESC key.
If you want to place the obstacle, move the pointer and use the Placement box as a guide to set the Center, Width, and Depth, and then press ENTER. -
If necessary, use the history of selections area in the Openings & Obstacles dialog box (where <Categories> appears) to make another selection, or click Close to close the dialog box.
Adding an obstacle or reserved area in a room
