Switch outdated items in your design

When you open a design that contains outdated items, Design provides a prompt asking if you want to update the items. You can update items automatically or manually, or choose to update them later.

You must activate this feature by selecting Update outdated items (if required) when loading a design in the Overall Settings preferences.

Complete the following steps to switch outdated items right from the start:

1. Open a design.
   
   If some items in your design are not current, the Update Outdated Items dialog box opens.
   
   

2. Select one of the following options:
   
   Automatically update items: the program will switch outdated items automatically.
   
   Manually update items using the Switch Items dialog box: you will update items yourself using the Switch Items dialog box.
   
   Do it later.
   
   

3. Click OK.
   
   Note: If you chose Automatically update items, it might take a few minutes to switch items, depending on the size of the file. Please be patient.
   
   If the program cannot switch certain items automatically, you will receive a warning message. Click OK to close the warning.
   
   

4. An item may not be switched for one of the following reasons:
   
   It cannot be found in the new catalog; you will have to switch the item manually using the Switch Items dialog box.
   
   It has an add-on (for example, grommets) that is no longer valid; in this case, the add-on will be deleted.
   
   It has options that are no longer available; in this case, the option will be deleted.
