How to access the ProgramData folder

The ProgramData folder is a hidden system folder in Windows that stores important application data.
Accessing ProgramData is safe as long as you only open the folder and avoid deleting or modifying files unless instructed by support.

You can reach the ProgramData folder in two easy ways, follow whichever option is easiest for you.

Option 1: Access ProgramData using File Explorer

Step 1 - Open File Explorer

1. Click the folder icon on the taskbar.
   

Step 2 - Go to your (C:) Drive

1. In the left panel, click This PC

2. Then double-click Local Disk (C:)

   
   

Step 3 - Reveal Hidden Items

Because ProgramData is hidden, you must enable viewing hidden folders:

1. At the top of File Explorer, click the View tab

2. Select Show

3. Check the option Hidden items

   

Step 4 - Open the ProgramData Folder

Once hidden items are visible, you will see the ProgramData folder appear on the list.
Double-click it to open.

Option 2: Open ProgramData directly using the Run Command

This is the fastest method.

Step 1 - Open the Run Window

1. Press Windows Key + R on your keyboard.

Step 2 - Enter the Path

1. In the box that appears, type: C:\ProgramData

2. Click OK.

   

This will take you directly to the folder.
