When opening Design for the first time, the program may fail to start and display the following error message:
CmNetErr #17 – Invalid Local License
This error usually occurs because the Trial folder is missing from the Design program directory. Without this folder, Design cannot initialize the local trial license correctly. Please follow the instruction below to solve this issue:
Step 1 - Download the Trial Folder
Download the Trial folder using the link provided below. The file will be downloaded as a ZIP file.
Click here to download the Trial folder (ZIP file).
Step 2 - Extract the ZIP File
Locate the downloaded ZIP file on your computer, usually in the Downloads folder.
Right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All.
After extraction, confirm that you have a folder named Trial.
Do not rename the folder.
Step 3 - Open the ProgramData Folder
The destination folder depends on the version of Design you are using.
ProgramData is a hidden Windows folder. If you are not familiar with accessing it, please refer to the article How to access the ProgramData folder.
Use the information below to identify the correct path based on your Design version:
Version 11 |
C:\ProgramData\20-20 Technologies\Config\Storage |
Version 12 |
C:\ProgramData\2020\Design\12\Config\Storage |
Version 13 |
C:\ProgramData\2020\Design\13\Config\Storage |
Version 14 |
C:\ProgramData\Cyncly\Design\14\Config\Storage |
Make sure you open the exact folder that matches your installed version.
Step 4 - Copy the Trial Folder
Copy the extracted Trial folder.
Paste it directly inside the Storage folder identified in the previous step.
The final folder structure should be:
Storage → Trial
Step 5 - Open Design and Sign In
Launch Design again.
Sign in normally.
You should now see a message related to the trial version timer, confirming that the Trial folder was recognized correctly and the issue has been resolved.
