Cycles render engine
The Cycles render engine will be turned on as the default render engine to use when generating a High Quality Render, this change will take advantage of your GPU and leave the CPU free for design tasks and system responsiveness. Cycles delivers crisper materials, truer lighting, and more realistic whites addressing the key pain points highlighted during user feedback.
Using GPU for Cycles and CPU for Real-time camera movement
If you have previously turned off hardware acceleration, you may have noticed that it also disabled acceleration for real-time camera movement and the Cycles engine. In this release we have added a new option: Enabled for HQ only in Preferences > Rendering. By selecting this from the dropdown menu next to Hardware Acceleration, you can keep your real-time camera movement running on the CPU while leveraging the GPU for Cycles renders. Note: the recommended selection is Enabled
Fast High Quality Render setting
A new render quality option lets you choose Low (Fast), Medium, or High (Slow) quality. This option lets you choose when to use quick, lower-quality renders for fast adjustments, while still allowing high-quality renders for sharing with customers. This option is available in the Perspective window and in the 360 Panoramic Views window.
Create renders using Cycles render engine for Texture with Edges mode
The ability to render Textures with Edges with the Cycles render engine is now possible. A long requested feature which adds subtle linework on top of textured surfaces, highlighting panel breaks, edge treatments and construction details easier to see. You can select this mode in the Perspective window under Settings.
New default textures
This version will see a change in the default finishes for the walls, ceiling, floor and, countertop. These refreshed defaults help you start with spaces that already feel current and visually compelling. The defaults can be updated at any time in the Preferences dialog. Catalog error reporting tool
Report catalog errors directly in your design. When you spot an error with the item you have placed, select and right click the item in the Plan and select the option Catalog Error. This will open the Catalog Feedback window and you will see the item details pre populated and an option for Error Type and a comments box for additional information. For more information click here.
Easier placement for Sinks and Cooktops for Cloud items
This feature makes it much easier to place cross-catalog items, such as sinks and cooktops, when working with Cloud catalogs. Previously, when adding sink or cooktop spaceholders in a design, the countertop thickness was assumed to be 1.5 inches. This has been updated to use smart spaceholder logic to automatically find items that fit the available dimensions and match the correct classification rules. Cloud items react correctly to Up/Down and In/Out values
Previously cloud items were either on the floor or at a top aligned height. With this update you will see cloud items placement work in the expected way referencing Up/Down and In/Out values added to the design. For more information click here.
New Cloud catalogs available
Your cloud library has been expanded with new cabinetry catalogs from participating manufacturers. These catalogs are available immediately and will update automatically as manufacturers release changes. If a catalog shows a lock, it may require authorization from the manufacturer.
