Create a drawing surface around windows

You can create a drawing surface around windows in Design.

Complete the following steps to draw surfaces around windows.

1. Open the elevation area that has windows and remove all display settings that may clutter your surface drawing.
   
   
2. In the Work Area toolbar, make sure the Item Snap and Ortho Mode buttons are activated.
   
   
3. Select Surface from the ITEMS ribbon. 
   
   
4. Begin drawing at the bottom right corner of the window/cut-out and follow the diagram below to draw the remaining lines of the surface area.

Note: It is very important to make sure the bottom lines are exactly inline.  
If drawn correctly, the surface will only tile around the window/cut-out.
