These are instructions to perform basic maintenance on your Design program.
Note: The steps below apply to the most recent versions of Design. If you are using Design version 9, please scroll to the bottom of this page to find a dedicated section with instructions for older versions.
Important: Before you begin, make sure to close Design.
- Click on the Search Windows (magnifying glass icon) located beside the Windows Start button.
- Type Maintenance Tools and press Enter.
- Begin by removing any temporary files by clicking on Delete Temporary Files.
- Next, click on Repair COM.
- Once completed, select Design Registry Reset.
Note: that doing a Design Registry Reset will set all preferences to their default settings.
- Open Design
Using Design version 9? Click here and follow these steps instead!
- Click on the Search Windows (magnifying glass icon) located beside the Windows Start button.
- Type Maintenance Tools and open the application related to Design version 9, as shown in the image below.
- Navigate to Internal Tools → Delete 20-20 Reg.
- Close the window and open 2020 Design 9.
Note: You will need to open the program twice in a row. The first time, an error will appear, and the deleted registry entries will be recreated.
